English Bullet Notes and Outlines for Common Core ELA

ELA Bullet Notes: reading and writing outlines

By testing season, students have forgotten half of what we covered in the fall. I wrote these bullet notes so they'd have one clean reference for each unit, with the key skills, vocabulary, content, and writing pieces laid out in order. I hand them out for test prep, as a study guide, or as a quick reference while we work through a unit.

How I use it

This Bullet Note packet is a new and engaging way to create a quick reference study guide, conduct test prep, or just give students an opportunity to reference key concepts throughout a unit. The packet includes an overview of the essential content in each unit and a list of key people to know and places to locate. Each unit set includes the most important information to know in an easy to understand and sequential format. There are also five graphic organizers that can be used with each unit to have students sequence events, research cause and effect relationships, organize vocabulary words, log reading, log their learning, and organize information on key people. This is part of a BUNDLE, ENGLISH MEGA BUNDLE!

A tip from my classroom

Have students highlight only the lines they can't explain out loud to a partner. By the end of the unit, the highlighted lines are their personal study list, and they show me where to spend small-group time. If most of the class highlighted the same skill, I know it needs a full reteach.
