Guided Notes and PowerPoints for Every Subject

Guided Notes Every Subject: Notes and slides that keep up

Guided notes are the backbone of how I teach new content. Students follow along with the PowerPoint and fill in the key words as we go. They stay with me, they write less than with full notes, and they leave with something they can actually study from.

I have written guided notes for social studies and science courses. Here they all are in one place.

How I use them

I teach a short chunk, five or six slides, and then stop. Students turn to a partner and explain one idea in their own words before we move on. That short pause keeps notes from turning into copying.

For students with accommodations, I hand out a copy with more of the blanks already filled in. Everyone works from the same notes, and nobody is singled out.

A tip from my classroom

Have students highlight the one blank on each page they think will be on the test. At the end of the unit, those highlights become their study guide, and you learn a lot about what they think matters.
